Yacht and Boat Transport

Shipping boats and yachts Roll on Roll off (RORO) or Break Bulk (BBK) is the safest method of International shipping. DAZMAC in conjunction with its select overseas partnerships holds key contracts with the major shippings lines in the USA, European and New Zealand trades to and from Australia, thus allowing DAZMAC to provide safe and competitive international boat and yacht shipping service.

Boats and yachts with a beam greater than 8’6” must be shipped as a boat on trailer (ro/ro) or boat on cradle (break-bulk) service as either underdeck or on deck cargo.

All boats and yachts shipped Roll on Roll off (RORO) and Break bulk are charged per cubic metre for the freight. Therefore by reducing the overall dimensions of boat or yacht by removing windscreens, masts, keels, T-tops, & radars etc can save you a lot of money on shipping costs. DAZMAC and our partners can provide these services if required.

Boat and Yachts on trailers

Boats and yachts on trailers when shipped as underdeck cargo are considered as Roll on Roll off (RORO) cargo as they are towed on and off specialised vessels which are like giant floating car parks. The boats and yachts are parked inside the vessel secured and lashed for transit. With most of these specialised vessels the door height is 5m but there are some vessel with doors as high as 7m Your boat or yacht must have a 0.2m clearance to fit into the vessel due to the angle of the ramp from the port.

All boat and yacht trailers will require a trailer import permit from DOTARS. DAZMAC can lodge the permit application on your behalf. The trailer import permit is required to gain customs clearance. Please contact regarding the guidelines for importing boat and yacht trailers. Trailers with a GVWR (ATM) over 4500kgs have higher restrictions so please ensure you contact us for advice on your trailer import permit prior to shipping.

Road permits from Australian State road authorities are separate to trailer import permits, as your boat or yacht trailer will be unregistered on arrival into Australia. You will need to ensure you have trailer transported by authorised transport carrier which DAZMAC can arrange on your behalf. The regulations vary between states in Australia

Boats and Yachts on Cradles

Boats and yachts on cradles when shipped as underdeck cargo are considered Break Bulk (BBK) cargo. The cargo is placed on MAFI which is basically a platform with wheels so your boat or yacht can be towed on and off specialised vessels which are like giant floating car parks. The boats and yachts are parked inside the vessel secured and lashed for transit. When boats and yachts have a beam wider than 10′ or the cradle is not designed to be lifted by a forklift will need to be lifted on and off the MAFI by a crane. Most of these specialised vessels the door height is 5m but there are some vessel with doors as high as 7m, your boat or yacht must have a 0.2m clearance to fit into the vessel due to the angle of the ramp from the port. The MAFI is 0.8m high reducing the height cargo which will fit inside the vessel.

Boats and yachts with air conditioning require a CFC permit to gain clearance from customs. DAZMAC can arrange your CFC permit application on your behalf. Please ensure you contact us prior to shipping to ensure we have the required information to gain approval for your CFC permit.
